​📸 Ep 22: A Gursha for Meskel Meskel had a way of making everything glow. The demera had been lit, the evening air carried the warmth of the celebration, and inside, their table was covered with an Ethiopian feast—kitfo rich with butter and spices, soft injera rolled within reach, ayib and greens tucked around the platter, and glasses of golden tej catching the light. She tore off a piece of injera and gathered a little kitfo into it. He watched her hand approach him with the unmistakable smile of someone who already knew exactly what was coming. “Open,” she said. He laughed. She fed him the first gursha. Then, naturally, he decided the tradition needed to be returned. He reached for the injera, carefully gathered a bite, and held it to her lips while looking at her like this tiny gesture was the whole evening. She took it, smiling. One gursha became another. Then another. Between bites, they talked, laughed, stole sips of tej, and kept reaching across the table for each other even when the food was already right in front of them. There was something about being fed by the person you love. Not just the food. The tenderness of it. The little I thought of you. The Here, this one is for you. The Let me take care of you for a second. Outside, the Meskel celebration continued glowing against the night. Inside, they were glowing too. ✨ 📸 Instagram ❤️

​📸 Ep 21: Demera 🎉 They had seen pictures of it before. The towering fire.  The smoke climbing into the evening sky. The crowds gathering beneath it. The whole city seeming to glow around the Demera. But pictures had never quite captured what it felt like to stand there. She held up her phone, trying to fit everything into one frame—the lights of Addis behind them, the thousands of people gathered around the celebration, and the enormous Demera rising into the sky in a blaze of gold and orange. He leaned closer, his arm around her waist. “Got it?” “Almost.” She looked at the screen. Then at him. Then back at the fire. “Okay,” she said, smiling. “Now I want one where we're actually looking at it.” So they turned away from the camera. For a moment, they simply stood there together, watching the flames dance higher against the evening sky. There was something beautiful about being present for something that belonged to a place, a people, and a tradition long before they ever arrived. He squeezed her hand. “Another one?” She smiled. “Another one.” And just like that, another little square on their life together was filled in. Meskel. Demera. We were there.✨ 📸 Instagram ❤️

​Ep 20: New Year’s Morning, Buna & Popcorn 🍿❤️ Morning has settled softly over the house, turning everything gold. She pours the coffee slowly from the jebena, careful and graceful, filling each tiny cup with the rich, fragrant buna that makes the whole room smell like a celebration. 🎉 She’s concentrating so seriously that she almost misses the fact that he has claimed an entire bowl of popcorn for himself. 😂 She glances over. “Are you planning to share any of that?” He looks down at the bowl, then back at her, wearing the most innocent expression he can manage. “I thought you were busy.” “With coffee?” He nods solemnly. “Very important work.” She gives him a look. He pops another piece into his mouth, then points toward the cup she's pouring into. “Careful, babe. Watch out. The cup is full.” She looks down immediately, startled for half a second—only to realize he’s teasing her. “Babe!” He breaks into laughter. She tries to look annoyed, but the smile gives her away. She finishes pouring, sets the jebena down, and turns back toward him. 🥰 He holds out the bowl. “Here.” She takes it, smiling. “Thank you.” He pats his lap. “Come here.” She laughs softly, then settles onto his lap, hugging the bowl against herself. “Mine.” He looks at her, amused. “All of it?” She gives him a little nod, pretending to guard it from him. “Okay,” he says, perfectly content. Because he doesn’t mind letting her keep the whole bowl. He already has the one thing he wants most. Her. 😍 His arms wrap around her waist, pulling her a little closer until there’s hardly any space left between them. She laughs softly, finally giving up her act, and turns toward him. He kisses her cheek. Then the corner of her mouth. She smiles. Another kiss, slower this time. 💋 The popcorn sits forgotten between them. The coffee cools by degrees. And somewhere behind him, the bright Adey Abeba he brought home yesterday glows against the morning light. 🌼 Neither of them cares. The doro wot can wait another minute. So can the new year. For now, there is just the two of them—laughing into a kiss, with the whole morning still ahead. 🥰 📸 Instagram 🌼
